Medellin

Colombia's second city, Medellin, is an attractive town in the Aburra Valley is known for its gardens and flowers. Medellin has a pleasant climate all year round and has been named the 'City of Eternal Spring'.

Unfortunately none of the original colonial architecture remains but there are some beautiful churches in the centre of town including the Basilica de la Candelaria.

Now a city of modern buildings and sculptures it enjoys great cultural activities enhanced by the presence of universities, museums and theatres. Medellin has excellent shopping centres and department stores too.

The Modern Art Museum houses many contemporary pieces, and the Zea Museum is home to a valuable historical archive and collections donated by Fernando Botero.
