LACSA of Avianca/TACA gets permission to fly San Jose, Costa Rica to Medellin

As part of a package of approvals from the Colombian civil aviation authorities  Costa Rican carrier Lacsa, part of the Avianca/TACA group has been authorized to operate a flight four times per week between San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, and Colombia's second largest city Medellin.  Also German carrier Lufthansa has approval to operate a five times weekly Frankfurt - Bogota - Frankfurt flight.

Taca is expanding its US network

Taca expanded its US network out of Guatemala City (GUA), when it in the last week launched three weekly flights to Orlando, FL (MCO) with 96-seat E-190s. Flights operate from Orlando on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the first flight having taken place on 16 July, and return from Guatemala City to the Florida destination on the following morning. This is the airline’s second Florida destination from Guatemala City, after Miami.

 

 

TACA airlines launch new flights connecting Lima to Guayaquil and Rio de Janeiro

As of 1st July 2010, TACA will operate direct flights between Lima and Guayaquil. Three additional weekly frequencies will be added to the existing four ones.

TACA/Avianca to acquire Aerogal of Ecuador

Reports from Ecuador's capital, Quito, indicate that TACA and Avianca of Colombia's parent, Synergy Aerospace, will acquire a majority shareholding in the Ecuadorean carrier, Aerogal.

TACA Airlines will now connect Medellin (Colombia) with Panama City with direct flights operating three times each week with convenient timings.TACA's new flight will provide access to onward connections at both ends of the new route.

TACA's stategy "post merger of equals" with Avianca

 

TACA’s proposed “merger of equals” with Avianca completed this week  will create one of the largest airline groupings in Latin America. The new mega Latin American carrier has also signed a new codeshare agreement with US Airways, which commenced on January 12 2010.

TACA sign codeshare agreement with US Airways

 

TACA Airlines have agreed a new codeshare agreement with US airways which will go into effect on 12 January 2010. Under the agreement US Airways customers travelling from the US to Latin America will be able to connect on flights operated by TACA Airlines through its hubs in San Salvador, El Salvador; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Lima, Peru, as well as Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua.
